CMSgt Ret. John D. Turner “Johnny”, age 75, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 in Biloxi, MS.
Mr. Turner was born in Brookhaven, MS on January 16, 1946, but moved to Gulfport in 1951 where he remained until his graduation from Gulfport High School in 1964. After graduation he left for basic training, which began an illustrious military career at the Mississippi Air National Guard Base in Gulfport that lasted until his retirement in 2001. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents, Lunn D. Turner and Sarah Lord McDaniel; a brother, Michael McDaniel; and one grandson, David Naquin.
He leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 54 plus years, Phyllis Price Turner; sons, Timothy Allen, John Darrin (Miranda); daughter, Melissa Ann; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Benny Turner and Ray McDaniel; sister, Ginger Dunaway; stepfather, H.E. “Mac” McDaniel; and his "Puppy" Bella.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Rd, Gulfport, MS, at 1:00 p.m. Friends are invited to visit from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery where CMSgt Turner will be buried with full military honors.
