John Wesley Hollingsworth

John Wesley Hollingsworth, age 81, went home to be with his savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 16, 2009, at his home in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. John was born on July 24, 1928, in Los Angeles, California. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper, stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia. After serving his country he was employed with RCA for 25 years as a Computer Programmer and was employed 25 years with Litton as a System Analyst retiring in 1993. During his career he worked on the Moon Shots at Cape Canaveral, Florida, and received an award for assisting NASA in the success of the Apollo mission. John enjoyed traveling with his wife, reading the Bible, biblical teachings, factoring numbers and carpentry. He was a wonderful loving role model, who is deeply cherished and will be greatly missed. John Wesley Hollingsworth is remembered as a very devout Christian, dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, father-in-law and grandfather-in-law. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all of his heart and served as a deacon, lay preacher, Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and taught youth leadership classes. John and his wife were the cofounders of several churches in southern California. He also made many trips to the Navajo reservation in Arizona where he worked with the Navajo Gospel Ministry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis (Frank) Harrison Hollingsworth and Maude Collins Hollingsworth, his sister, Mary Bowers and two grandchildren, Matthew Clodfelter and Wesley Clodfelter. Left to cherish his precious memory is his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Manette B. Hollingsworth, two daughters, Terri (Allan) Rohr, of Ocean Springs, MS., and Linda (Jerry) Clodfelter of Crosby, TX., three grandchildren, Desiree (Trey) Smith, of Hurley, MS., Michael (Brandy) Delahousey of Gautier, MS., and Jeffrey Scott (Michelle) Clodfelter of Crosby, TX., and two great-grandchildren, Tiffany Smith and Natalie Smith of Hurley, MS., and a host of other relatives. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, from 5-8 PM, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Thursday, August 20, 2009, there will be a 10 AM chapel service in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs.
