Johnnette Betts

Johnnette Betts, age 59 went on to Glory on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at her longtime home in Gautier.

She was born on January 27, 1964 in Repton, AL to Roosevelt and Lillie Lett. She was a 1982 graduate of Repton High School with aspirations of becoming a journalist. She married Joe Lee Betts Jr. on July 24, 1982. She was a dedicated wife and homemaker, and an amazing mother. Johnnette received Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1985 at Jesus Saves Baptist Church. She attended Jesus Christ Baptist Church faithfully for thirty-three years. She was strong in her faith until the end. She truly loved the life she was given to the fullest.

Johnnette enjoyed the simple pleasures; spending time her with many friends and family, crafting, sewing, and collecting antiques. She was full of love and kindness, which she spread to everyone around her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt and Lillie Lett.

Johnnette is survived by her loving husband of forty-two years, Joe Lee Betts, Jr.; her children, Wanakee (Aaron) Sharp, Patrice Betts, Rachel (Joseph) Tuten, Rebekah Betts, Joseph Betts, and Joanna (Uriah) Gresham; her grandchildren, Malachi and Nora Sharp and Olivia and Mark Tuten; her siblings, Dernard (Ela) Lett, John (Dorothy) Lett, Threnzetta Betts, Charlie (Gloria) Lett, Joyce (Ronald) Taite, Roosevelt (Rochell) Lett Jr., and Tawanna Lett; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Family, friends, and others who had the joy of knowing Johnnette should take comfort in knowing she is at peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Jesus Christ Baptist Church, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
