Johnny “Hoby” Swiney, Jr. passed away at age 66 on Sunday, August 11, 2024 in Biloxi.
Hoby was born in Norton, Virginia. However, he was a longtime resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast where he enjoyed boating, fishing and spending time with friends & family out on the water. Prior to his retirement, Hoby was employed as a salesman for various local beverage distribution companies. He dedicated over 20 years of his career to Coca-Cola, where he once served as the Plant Manager of the Ocean Springs Coca-Cola Bottling Company, located in Vancleave.
Hoby is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Shirley Swiney.
Survivors include his sons, Hoby (Stacy) Swiney, Cody (Kirk) Swiney, Jacob (Hannah) Swiney, and Jason Swiney; his grandchildren, Shelby Lynn, James, Ella Grace, Jasmine, and Brayden; his siblings, Donna (Verlon) McKenzie, Debbie (Kevin) Lepre, and Darlene (Steve) West; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Hoby never knew a stranger and always had a story to share; he had a larger-than-life personality. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
The family will honor Hoby's wishes, and no burial service will be held. A small gathering to celebrate his life will take place at a later date.
