Joseph Bacon Garrard, II

Joseph Bacon Garrard II was born June 28, 1939, in Port Arthur, Texas. He was a life long resident of Ocean Springs and a graduate of Lamar University in Texas. Retired Systems Manager with Lockheed Martin Space Systems. Mr. Garrard served on the Jackson County Ambulance Board, Planning Commission and Regional Waste Water Commission. He was a member of the church vestry at St. John's Episcopal Church. He proudly served four terms as an Alderman in Ocean Springs. He is preceded in death by his wife Sandra VanCleave Garrard. He is survived by his children Eileen (David) Bailey, Julie (James) Frazier, Joseph B. (Rhonda) Garrard III, and Gordon Vancleave Garrard; his grandchildren Scott (Lauren) Garrard, Katie (Lee) Tanner, Kathrene Frazier (Joshua) Butler, Stephen (Jade) Garrard, Claire Bailey, and Joseph Vancleave Garrard; his great-grandchildren Joseph Wyatt Garrard, Gavin, Whitley, Zachary, and Grace Tanner; his brother Jack Kling Garrard; nieces Francesca (Joey) Nitcavic and Janella Zapada; and nephews Daniel (Kerri) Garrard and James F. Garrard. In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to the St. John's Episcopal Church of Ocean Springs, building fund. The family wishes to thank We Care Hospice of Moss Point for their exceptional treatment and loving care, as well as Dr. Nicole Angel and Ocean Springs Hospital. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm, with a 1:00 pm church service at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
