Joseph Luong Bui

Joseph Luong Bui, age 64, of Biloxi, MS passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021. Joseph was born in Vung Tau, Vietnam. He was the son of Uý Vẫn Bui and Miền Thi Nguyễn. He had 5 siblings and was blessed with 3 more adopted siblings. He immigrated to the U.S. after the Vietnam war in 1975, and settled in Pella, Iowa with his brothers, nieces and nephew. He got married and in 1982, he moved his family to Biloxi, Mississippi. His entrepreneurship began when he bought his own boat and became a shrimper. Joseph eventually opened up his own grocery store. While nothing stopped him, he became a certified mechanic and opened his own car shop called “Biloxi Auto Repair”. He then ventured into the world of house flipping and successfully remodeled a few houses and owned his own properties. Not only did Joseph have strong trade skills, he learned the art of dancing. He performed at multiple competitions and eventually found his dance family from many places. Joseph Bui was always a hard worker and determined to succeed. He embraced his failures by working harder and achieving even more goals. We would like to thank Biloxi Police Department, Biloxi Fire Department, D’Iberville Police Department, D’Iberville Fire Department, Marine Patrol, the Harrison County Sheriff Department, Harrison County Fire as well as any other agencies for working tirelessly to recover our father, all while providing comfort as we waited. We would also like to thank Daphne Search and Rescue who worked alongside Biloxi Police Department and the Marine Patrol who worked through the night, despite those evacuating for Hurricane Ida. The Bui family can live in peace and comfort knowing that he is now with his son Christopher. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Daphne Search and Rescue in memory of Joseph Bui. He is survived by his wife Maria and the mother of his first six children Cay, and brother Nam. He is also survived by his children Elizabeth (Ken), Mary (Brandon), Monica, Christopher (Deceased), Kenneth (Noelle), Richard (Shasity), and Vincent; and his grandchildren Jacob, Kayla, and Dylan. Visitation will be held at Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue in Biloxi on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 6-7pm and on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 3-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Vietnamese Martyrs Church at 11am with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at D'Iberville Memorial Park.
