Joseph Eugene "Gene" Weems

Mr. Joseph Eugene "Gene" Weems, (1912-2005) went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2005. As a Biloxi native he loved boat building. He began Weems Brothers Seafood Company, along with his brother, Charles, in 1941. Mr. Weems was preceded in death by his parents, Kathryn and Eugene Weems, Sr., two sisters, Hilda Jalanivich and Nettie Babuchna, and a great-grandson, Carl Hudson. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Doris Terry Weems, three daughters, Anita Hill and husband, Bob, Barbara League and husband, Bob, Ruth Tank and husband, Bill, a son, Douglas Weems and wife, Becky, brother, Charles Weems, sister, Erna Danella, twelve grandchildren, Dr. Dale Hill, Dawn Pablo, Donald Hill, Leona Luzania, Harold Hudson, Walter League, Jr., Kirt Hudson, Darryl Hill, Stephanie Bodden, Joseph Weems, T.C. Cruthirds, and Angela Weems. He also had 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, from 6-9 PM, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Thursday, May 5, 2005, there will be a 3:00 PM chapel service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Southern Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to The First Baptist Church of Ocean Springs Building Fund, 602 Washington Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS. 39564.
