Mr. Joseph J. Erdos, Sr., age 88 of Canton, Ohio, passed away Friday morning, May 13, 2005, following a sudden illness. He was born May 7, 1917, in Perth Amboy, NJ to his parents, the late John and Elizabeth Erdos. He was an electrical engineer who worked at Goodyear Aerospace and Gould Ocean Systems prior to his retirement from Republic Steel. He was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, North Canton Game Reserve and the Ohio Archeological Society. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing at Clendenning Lake in Freeport, OH. He served his country with pride in the U. S. Navy during WW II aboard the USS Nehenta Bay.
Mr. Erdos was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Anita Dubuisson Erdos in 1995; a sister, Mary Cretoria and a brother, James, who died in WW II.
Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Erdos DeJong and her husband, Wayne, of San Francisco, CA; a son, Joseph Erdos and his wife, Diane, of Millford, CT; sisters, Rose Erdos, Margaret Beck and Lil Colwell and her husband, Frank; a brother, Julius Erdos and his wife, Helen, and grandsons, Andrew, Matthew and Joseph, III.
Mass of Christian Burial was held 12 noon Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Canton, OH. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2005, at Biloxi National Cemetery.
The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi in charge of arrangements.
