Mr. Joseph S. "Red" Ladner, 83, of Gulfport, MS passed away, July 3, 2007 at Gulfport Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Ladner was born in Lakeshore, MS on August 18th, 1923 and has been a resident of Gulfport for over 60 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, fourth degree. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the VFW. He retired from the Gulfport Veterans Administration in Gulfport, MS with nearly 40 years of service. Mr. Ladner was preceded in death by his parents, Edward V. and Mamie Z. Ladner. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Bonnie B. Ladner his children, Patsy (Mike) Hughes of Huntsville, Ala; Larry (Terri) Ladner of Gulfport, MS; brothers Leo (Barbara) Ladner of Ansley, MS, George ( Margaret) Ladner of Pearlington, MS, John Robert (Ann) Ladner of Bay St. Louis, MS; sisters, Ethel Farve of Bay St. Louis, MS; Georgie (Bill) Irwin of Long Beach, MS; Anna Jean (Gilbert) Schmidt of Metairie, La; Evelyn (Jimmy) Sticker of Metairie, La; aunt, Eva Manieri of Bay St. Louis, MS; and grandchildren, Jeff Hughes, Melissa and Kyle Ladner. He was also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday July 6, 2007at 1:00 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where friends may call from 11:30 until service time. Interment will follow at the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. The family prefers donations to be made in Mr. Ladner's memory to St. Vincent De Paul Society P.O. Box 970 Gulfport, MS 39502.
