Mr. Joseph Lewis Matturri, Sr., 77, of Biloxi, MS, died Saturday, August 14, 2010, in Biloxi.
Mr. Matturi was born in Newark, NJ, and had been a resident of the coast since 1970. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and formerly employed with Ingall's Shipbuilding. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of The Redeemer and a Mason. He was in the Bowler's Hall of Fame. He started the Mississippi Senior Bowling Association. He also served as president of the Boys and Girls Club and chairman of the State Boys Club of America. He enjoyed playing Santa Clause at hospitals and nursing homes along the coast.
Mr. Matturri is survived by his wife, Ouida Jean Matturri of Biloxi; daughters, Antonette Laron Matturri of Colorado Springs, CO, Sarah Kelly Matturri of Biloxi, and Melissa M. Balzli of Vancleave; son, Joseph L. Matturri, Jr. of Biloxi; step-daughter, Rosylen Berlin of Ocean Springs;sister, Theresa DeGange of West Orange, NJ; seven grandchildren, Zakariah Williams, Isabella Williams, Sarah Wooden, Michael Wooden, Joseph L. Matturri, III, Kristinia Matturri and Megan Matturri.
Visitation is Wednesday, August 18, 2010, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi.
