Mr. Joseph Philip Anastasio, 91, of Gulfport, MS died Saturday, May 14, 2005, in Gulfport. Mr. Anastasio was born in White Castle, LA and had been a resident of Gulfport over 40 years. He was an active member of St. James Catholic church and a member of the St. Vioncent de Paul Society. Mr. Anastasio retired as a chief warrant officer from the U. S. Air Force in 1967 after over 25 years of service. He was also retired from civil service at the Gulfport Veterans Administration Center and retired from the staff of St. James Catholic Church. In 1984, he was awarded The Bishop's Service Cross by Bisop Howze. Mr Anastasio was preceded in death by his wife, Rose R. Anastasio, his twin brother, Vincent, other brothers, Tina, Tony and Sam and a sister, Mary Falgout. Survivors include two daughters, Christine Anastasio of Gulfport and Paula Rockett of Gulf Breeze, FL; two sons, Randall J. Anastasio of Birmingham, AL and Michael J. Anastasio of Gulfport; two sisters, Rose Anastasio and Anna Oncale both of Metairie, LA; a brother, Charles Anastasio of Houston, TX; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday evening, May 16, 2005, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. Rosary will be recited during the visitation. The funeral mass will be Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
