Joseph Vincent Perotti “Sonny”, age 84, died Saturday, February 16, 2013.
Sonny was born on February 3, 1929 in Memphis, Tennessee. At the age of 18 he joined the Army Air Force which later separated and became two branches of the Military, the Army and the Air Force. He was issued one of the first Air Force uniforms. During the time that he was in the military he worked on helicopters as a mechanic and after he left the military he continued this line of work for 39 years. He also became part owner of Martin Lake Resort in October of 1992.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alcide Vincent Pierotti; and his mother, Mable Pierotti.
He is survived by his sister, Norma Ware; children, Isola Hoff and Linda Sandifer; eight grandchildren, Ryan Corkern, Kane Hoff, Linsey Mier, Jace Sandifer, Sarah Sandifer, Lila Fox Ermel, Jacob Fox, and Monte Thiffault; one great grandchild, Justin Mier; and two stepdaughters, Teri Mayeux and Gaynell Mayeux.
Special mention goes to Carol Redmond, Bobby Martin, Michael Redmond and Bobby Redmond who are the children and grandchildren of his significant other, Judy DeRouen that grew to love him and help her take care of him. Special mention of Patricia Warren who was his aide when on Hospice that continued to come and do personal care for him after he was taken off Hospice.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until service time at 7:00 p.m. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
