Joseph Tramuta, 85, of Gulfport, MS passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 29, 1931. He retired from the U.S. Air Force and the Department of Veterans Affairs in Biloxi, MS. He also worked at Howard Memorial Hospital in Biloxi, MS and St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, MS. Over the years he enjoyed flying model airplanes, working on cars, woodworking, camping, and fishing with family and friends. He volunteered many years at Camp Blue Bird and the Boy Scouts.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Kilpatrick Tramuta; his parents, Vito and Clara Tramuta; and his sister, Gloria Cameron.
He is survived by his children, Joe Tramuta (Terry), Kathy Tramuta Caldwell, Carol Tramuta Steele (Danny), Judy Tramuta Rivera (Russell), Mary Tramuta Boudreaux (Mike), Jane(y) Tramuta (Walter), Larry Kilpatrick (Laura), Danny Kilpatrick (Marie) and Gina Kilpatrick; his grandchildren, Joey Tramuta (Hannah), Elizabeth Tramuta, Christie Lightsey (Eric), Brent Caldwell, Christopher Steele (Julianne), Amanda Spansel (Kenny), Jeremy Rivera (Angela), Michelle Boudreaux (Mike), Lee Kilpatrick (Jennifer), Ethan Kilpatrick, Eli Kilpatrick, Evan Kilpatrick and Elizabeth Kilpatrick; his great-grandchildren, Aislinn, Serenity, Maria, John, Kathryn, William, Caroline, Nathan, Cade and Luke; his former wife and friend, Jane Danielson; his sisters, Pat Urig (Chris) and Carol Granholm (Eric); and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to his caregivers Betty, Birgit, Emma, Grace, Jane, Susan and to the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul at St. James Catholic Church or The Fisher House at Keesler Air Force Base.
The funeral service will be Friday, November 25, 2016 at 11:30 am at the Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home Chapel, 15th Street Gulfport, where friends may visit beginning at 10:30 am. Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery with honors by the U.S. Air Force.
