Josephine Kelly Folkes Kennedy

Josephine Kelly Kennedy, 78, of Biloxi, MS died on Tuesday, November 25, 2008. Mrs. Kennedy was born April 9, 1930 in Waukegan, IL. She had been a longtime resident of Biloxi. As a youth she lived with her grandmother, Theresa Lopez Folkes, widow of Dr. H. M. Folkes and daughter of Lazaro Lopez, at the family home known as Gunston Hall, later known as the White Pillars Restaurant. She married William P. Kennedy, III of Biloxi and was the mother of nine children. She was the head of the Biloxi Heart Association for several years. Josephine also was a Real Estate Broker and ran her own Real Estate Company in Biloxi for many years before retiring. She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Kennedy, III; parents, Robert Eugene and Anna Folkes Kelly; daughter, Theresa Kelly Kennedy. She is survived by her children, William P. (Janet), IV, Julia Ann, Sara Leigh, John, Robert (Karen), Denis K. (Angie), Hilary (John) Nipper, Christopher K. (Sherrie); grandchildren, Wayne Pemberton, Kristen Sidaway, Will Kennedy, Michael Kennedy, Mary Beth Kennedy, Katherine Kennedy, Johnny Joe Kennedy, Justin Kennedy, Jennifer Joiner, Jessica Kennedy, Gabrielle Kennedy, Stratford Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Lauren Nipper, Ian Nipper, Jordan Kennedy, and Colleen Kennedy; one great-grandchild, Hannah Pemberton. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, November 29, 2008, 11:00 am at Nativity BVM Cathedral. Friends may visit from 9:00 am until mass time. Burial will follow in Southern Memorial Park.
