Josephine Tanner Atwell

Mrs. Josephine Tanner Atwell, age 95, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2008, in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Atwell was born in George County and was a resident of Jackson County since 1931. She was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in the Fort Bayou Community since 1939. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Atwell, daughter, Geraldine Williams, son, Darnell Atwell, parents, Alfred "Nep" and Emma Prichard Tanner, fifteen brothers and sisters, and two granddaughters. Survivors include her daughter, Emma Jo (Doug) Parker of Ocean Springs, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 17, 2008, from 6-9 PM, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Sunday, May 18, 2008, there will be a 1:30 PM chapel service in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
