Joshua S. Adams, 49, of Ocean Springs, MS, graduated to his eternal, heavenly home on September 17, 2021. He passed peacefully with his loving wife by his side.
Josh was born in Honolulu, HI, on September 16, 1972. He was a contractor by trade and a coach by heart. Josh enjoyed coaching young men on both the football and baseball field. He found great joy in mentoring to them and was proud of their accomplishments both on and off the field. His best-known tag line on the football field was, “punch them in the face”, which his players did obediently, and led to several championships. Josh was a motivator and a second father figure to many.
When he entered a room, the fun began. Josh was full of energy and life. He never met a stranger. He would happily help anyone at the drop of a hat and never complained about it, and often never mentioned it. Josh was just “that guy”. If you needed a helping hand, he was there and expected nothing in return but friendship. You could not find a more loyal or devoted friend.
Josh’s greatest pride and joy was his daughter, Autumn. You could not have a conversation with Josh without him mentioning Autumn’s latest accomplishments, her kindness, or their unbreakable bond. Some of Josh’s most memorable days were spent with his daughter going on father-daughter dates, riding rollercoasters, playing video games, riding wave runners, or simply sharing the days activities over dinner. His day was not complete without texting, talking to her, or if she was home, closing the day in prayer together. They also had a special handshake, that his wife was not privy to or included in no matter how she tried.
Melanie, Josh’s wife, as he often said, was his soulmate. They had a unique relationship that some would not understand. They often made jokes about each other and were boldly honest, no matter who was present. Josh and Melanie were also each other’s biggest fan and supporter. They loved each other dearly and enjoyed spending their evenings in each other’s company, discussing the day’s events, and nodding off together on the couch watching random TV shows. Together they shared many years of happiness, milestones, and adventures.
Josh, Melanie, and Autumn were a close-knit family that loved to travel, especially to Disney. Josh and Autumn loved the big rides, and Melanie loved playing back-up and being “holder of all things” as they pursued their adrenaline rush. If you knew them as a family, it was evident that they were each other’s best friend.
Josh is survived by his wife of 21 years, Melanie Adams; daughter, Autumn Adams; father and stepmother, Ricky and Gail Adams; brother, Nathan Thomas; sisters, Julie Seitz and Brooke Holliman; and four nephews, Tyler Seitz, Tanner Seitz, Jacob Seitz, and Wyatt Lape.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Smith.
A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am with a service at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 23, 2021 all at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 911 Porter Ave., Ocean Springs, MS. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs, MS.
