Joyce B. Corley, age 89, of Biloxi died Sunday, August 4, 2013.
Joyce was a native of Mobile but spent a great portion of her early years in Bayou Le Batre, Alabama and anyone who knew her was certainly aware of her love of “The Bayou”. She was a graduate of Barton Academy in Mobile and was a former employee of Howard Memorial Hospital.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years James Edward Corley, Sr.; parents, Leonard H. and Henrietta McCaleb Bosarge.
Joyce was a former member of the Altar Guild of the Biloxi Church of Redeemer and an active member of the United Daughters of the American Confederacy (UDC). Joyce loved to crochet and was a bird lover, especially red birds, her “signature” color.
Survivors include daughters Marcie Louise Lockett (Gene) of Jackson and Brandi Deann Pierce (Daryl) of Pascagoula; sons, James E. Corley, Jr. (Belinda) and Leonard E. Corley (Mary) all of Biloxi; grandchildren, Jason, Mandy, James, Brent, Ryan, Christopher, Morgan, Ashley and Clayton; and four great grandchildren.
Joyce’s family would like to especially thank Shannon and Mark and all the staff and family of Biloxi Seashore Assisted Living for their care and compassion during Joyce’s last months.
Funeral service will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit one hours prior. Graveside
service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Bayou Le Batre, AL. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to Beauvior Chapter of UDC #621, 534 Second Street, Gufport, MS 39507, or a charity or church of your choice.
