Mrs. Joyce Loretta "Mullet Mom" Wieck O'Dell, mom, beloved mother, faithful wife, loving grandmother, caring sister and aunt, has peacefully joined her Heavenly Father, husband, Lee O'Dell and son, Timothy Lee O'Dell, in the Kindom of Heaven on Sunday, August 23, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Glen Wieck, Sr. and son-in-law, Gene Stracher. She is survived by four daughters, Sharilynn Starcher, Cynthia (David) Hester, Chardale Carroll (Michael Hendricks), Melanie (Rusty) Byard; two sons, David (Maurine) O'Dell and Terry (Cheryl) O'Dell; six sisters, Cecile Bakker, Shirley Bakker, Louise Carron, Patricia Shoemaker, Janet Krohn and Connie Robbins; three brothers, Lyle Wieck, Tommy Wieck and Jerry Wieck; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildern. Mrs. O'Dell was born in Deluth, Minnesota and had been a longtime resident of the coast. She was a graduate of the first nursing school at Perkinston as a registered nurse. She was retired from the Biloxi V A Medical Center Cardio-Vascular Department and Gulfport Memorial Hospital as head nurse. She was very talented and enjoyed several hobbies, including photography, she was a pastry chef, ceramist, artist; former president and treasurer of the Biloxi Art Association. The family wishes to thank Dr. Wansley and the entire staff at Ocean Springs Hospital for the care and attention they provided. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Attn: Memorial /Honor Program, One St. Jude Place Building, Memphis, TN 38148-0552. Visitation is Tuesday, August 25, 2009, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi. Funeral services are Wednesday, at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery.
