Joyce Alicia Roberts

Joyce Alicia Roberts, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. She was surrounded by her family at her home in Gulfport, MS.

Joyce was born on December 1, 1939 in Conway, South Carolina. She graduated from Conway High School in 1957. She was a devoted teacher and faculty member of Christian Collegiate Academy for 40 years and was awarded the Walmart Teacher of the Year in 1999. The Joyce Roberts Library was dedicated in 2009 for 35 faithful years of service. She was also a military spouse and enjoyed loving on her grandbabies, attending church, reading, going to lunch with her husband or friends and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Beulah Richardson; a son Joseph Roberts; and sisters Judy Watson (her twin), Betty Jean Larrimore and Mary Lou Elvis.

Joyce was survived by her spouse Janson “Buck” Roberts; children Janson Roberts (Maricel), David Roberts and Sonya Jones (Derek); siblings Linda Stalvey, Hubert Richardson and James Richardson; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 6, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church, 12200 Dedeaux Road, Gulfport, MS 39503, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be Monday, November 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS.
