Joyce "Mawmaw" Marie Sterling

Joyce “Mawmaw” Marie Sterling, 82, of Lizana passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022. Joyce was born January 29, 1940 to Carlton and Zaddie Cuevas.

Joyce was a native and lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and was a former employee of both the Harrison County Courthouse and State of Mississippi Department of Transportation. She spent all her free time with her family, as keeping them together and being involved was her first priority.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James D. Sterling Sr.; son, Richard J. Graham; and grandson, Dustin J. Sterling.

Survivors include her sons, James “Jimmy” Sterling Jr. and Ronald Sterling; niece and caregiver, Bridget Blackwell; grandchildren, Nicholas J. Sterling, DeRae Graham, and Cole J. Sterling; and great-nieces, Brandie Carver and son, Blaice Carver and Brittany Payne and son, Braxton Layne.

A funeral service will be held at 4 pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Friends are invited to visit at 2 pm. Interment will be at Wolf River Cemetery at a later date.
