Joycell Thensted Wilson

Joycell Thensted Wilson, 87, formerly of Biloxi, MS passed away New Year’s Day, Saturday, January 1, 2011 of natural causes. Joycell, a longtime resident, graduated from Biloxi High School in 1941. She was the daughter of Henry C. and Ruth Walters Thensted. Joycell met and married Air Force officer Ronald C. Wilson in 1948 who preceded her in death in 1998. As a career military family, Ron and Joyce enjoyed numerous assignments that led from Keesler AFB in Biloxi to Anderson AFB in Guam as well as New York, Montgomery AL, Fayetteville NC, Frankfort, Germany, Tyndall AFB in Panama City, FL, and Warner Robins, Georgia before retiring in Atlanta, Georgia in 1970. Joycell became an accomplished gourmet cook, avid gardener, homemaker and world traveler. Joyce was the beloved Mother of two sons, Robert Wilson of Atlanta and Jeffrey Wilson of New Orleans and Grandmother of Travis, Rachel, Gina and Tania Wilson. She was close to her daughters–in–law Linda and Jenjira Wilson. She was preceded in death by her brother Henry C. “Buddy” Thensted and her sister June Thensted Averett. Joycell maintained her close relationship with her sister-in-law, Jewel Irene Thensted. She cherished her nieces and nephews, Brenda, Henry C. and Michael Thensted, Marilyn Finger and Robert Averett and their spouses, Jimmy and Linda; as well as her nieces Claudette Chateau, Marguerite Brown, and Andrea La Rock originally from New York. Joycell’s Gulf Coast cousins included the families of the Agregaard’s, Blessey’s and Fountain’s. Joyce was blessed with a great number of family and life-long friends. Funeral services are on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Biloxi. Friends may visit from 10:30 a.m until service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to the Humane Society of South MS, 2615 25th Ave., Gulfport, MS 39501.
