Juanita "Nita" Shoemaker, 81 of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, December 8, 2023.
She was born on January 21, 1942 in Simpson, Illinois to Eunice Mae Phariss-Longworth and William James Longworth. As an Air Force spouse, Juanita and her kids traveled around the United States and to the Panama Canal Zone with her husband, Thomas "Ed" Shoemaker. She had a lifelong career as an administrative assistant in the civil service through various branches of the US Military. She was also a talented musician, singer, and writer, who wrote under the pen name Adrianne Ambers. She was a staunch animal lover and activist. She achieved an associate's degree in Sociology through the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
Juanita is preceded by her husband, Ed; mother, Eunice; father, William; and sister, Rosemary Jane Longworth.
She is survived by her children, Michael Shoemaker and Sonya White; grandchildren, Miles and Chloe White; son-in-law, Robert White; and brother, Hal Longworth.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Friends are invited to visit at 9 am. A graveside service will take place at 9 am on Friday, December 15, 2023 at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
