Judith "Judy" Ann Schmidt, 70, of Vancleave, passed away Thursday, August 22nd, 2013.
Judy was born in White Castle, LA, on May 18th, 1943. She grew up in Donaldsonville, LA until the age of 28 when she married Mr. James "Jimmy" Marvin Schmidt, Sr. The two happily resided on the St. Martin Bayou, surrounded by immediate family on all sides.

She made a career of ceramics and formed lasting friendships at arts and craft shows throughout the years including her life-long friend Mrs. Jeanette Ladnier of Latimer. With his shrimp boat docked behind their home along with her ceramic shop, "Judy's Ceramic's", they were able to spend their years together close to family and watching their grandchildren grow into adulthood. Judy enjoyed working at Winn Dixie where she made friends with everyone she met, especially co-worker Honda Downs and her family making Z’Arrious her God-son. She had a home built in Vancleave, where she most recently resided with her daughter and son-in-law; Tracy and Mary Copelen. She was a devoted and loving grandmother and best friend to her (step) daughter up until the day she left this world to reunite with Jimmy, who preceded her in death in 2000.
Judy was also preceded in death by her father, Noland Torres; Mother, Rose Torres; Sister, Brenda T. Hidalgo; Nephew, Brad Hidalgo and Grandson, Jason Schmidt.
