Julia Lanell Massey

Julia Lanell Massey, 74, of Ocean Springs, MS died Friday, December 2, 2011 in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Massey attended school in Leaksville, MS where she met and married her husband of 53 years, David C. Massey of Lucedale, MS in 1954. She was of the Pentecostal faith and a faithful member of Life Church United Pentecostal Church in Ocean Springs, MS. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, smocking, spending time in prayer, attending church, gossiping with family and friends, swimming with the grandkids and sitting on the porch swing. Mrs. Massey was preceded in death by her husband, David Clifton Massey; parents, Leonard and Susie Herndon; son-in-law, Richard D. Pittman; mother and father-in-law, Henry and Lillie Massey; sisters, Mary Ezell and Sarah Herndon; grandchildren, Brittany "Gail" Pittman and Anakin Massey; and sister-in-law, Doris Herndon; brother-in-law, Pat Ezell; and beloved niece, Tracey MciLwain. Survivors include her children, David (Janie) Massey of Larue, MS, Vicky (Larry) Jones and Yolanda Gail (Joey) Killingsworth both of Latimer, MS, Rev. Paul (Martha) Massey of Winnfield, LA, Gary (Sheila) Massey of Brookhaven, MS, Aaron (Rochelle) Massey of Madison, MS, Belinda Massey of Gulf Breeze, FL, Ramona (Paul Dale) Mixon of Winnsboro, LA and Rev. Glenn (Madonna) Massey of Lake Charles, LA; twenty six grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home on Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Turning Point United Pentecostal Church in Gautier on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour before service. Interment will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:30 pm. Pallbears will be her grandsons, Michael Massey, Daniel Massey, Cody Jones, Brandon Pittman, Keith Massey and David Massey. Honorary pallbearers will be Carson Massey, Easton Massey and Dakota Mixon.
