Julia Deshamp Weldon

Julia Ann Deshamp Weldon, known to many as JuJu, age 64, of the Lizana community in Gulfport, MS passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022 in Gulfport.

She was born on May 7, 1957 in Gulfport, MS.  She attended Pearl River Community College and was employed as a teacher’s assistant with Harrison County Schools in Lizana and Lyman.  Julia was a loving mother, grandmother, wife and friend and amazingly loved by her grandchildren and students.  Her hobbies included fishing and sewing baby blankets.  She was an avid reader and unconditionally loving grandmother.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtis Cuevas Deshamp and Percy P. Deshamp and siblings Preston Deshamp, Larry Deshamp, Suzie Deshamp Erkhart and Richard “Dubbie” Deshamp.

She is survived by her spouse, Robert Michael Weldon, Sr.; her children Racheal Kilpatrick (Jason) of Saucier, MS, Renel Creighton (Jeffrey) of Bowdoin, ME and Robert Michael Weldon, Jr. (Lauren) of Gulfport, MS.; her grandchildren Abby Kilpatrick, Robyn Creighton, Jillian Creighton, Melissa Weldon, Lydia Weldon and Logan Weldon; and her siblings Percy Ray Deshamp, Doris Snowden and Joyce Ladner, all of Gulfport, Gayle Cochran (Brant) of Brooklyn, MS and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the O’Neal Road Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15452 O’Neal Road, Gulfport, MS.  There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Wolf River Cemetery in Gulfport, MS.
