Julia Neely Nelson

Julia Neely Nelson, age 52, passed away on December 30, 2022. 

Julie grew up in Ocean Springs and primarily lived on the coast throughout her life. She worked for Memorial Hospital at Gulfport for more than 10 years. She had a big heart and smile. Country music and 80’s rock were her favorite music. Known as “Juju” to her friends and family, Julie went out of her way to make people happy. Her laughter would fill a room. She enjoyed lying in bed watching scary movies or anything, actually. Julie adored her sons and daughter and would do anything for them. She will be forever cherished and remembered by her friends and family.

She left behind the lights of her life, her sons, Cody Queen and Kyle Nelson.  Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Dottie Neely, and her sister, Debbie McCann.  She is survived by her sisters, Doni Steubing and Mamie Carlson (Tim), and their children, Alex Steubing, Ally Carlson, and Timmy Carlson. In addition, she leaves behind her husband, Rodney Nelson, and stepdaughter, Jasmin Nelson.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15^th Street, Gulfport. Friends may visit one-hour prior to service. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15^th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Nelson family.
