June Maragret Daigle O'Gea

June Margaret Daigle O’Gea, 80, was born on September 29, 1934 and passed away on November 18, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Napoleonville, Louisiana to the late Robert and Emma Daigle. June graduated from Morgan City High School in Morgan City, LA. She was a soloist in the chorus and an oboist in the band. June was very active in her children’s lives including band booster’s room mother, choir trip chaperone, all around chauffeur and costume designer. She was a bookkeeper in her younger years for her husband’s Cash and Carry Building Materials Business. She was committed to her faith community and was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral. June was a soloist for mass, weddings and funerals. She was also a canter at mass, and a choir member for 40 years. June and her husband, Buck, were a part of the Marriage Preparation Program and the Search Team. She was a Rectora for Cursillo. June served as a Eucharistic Minister, bringing communion to the sick. Her and Buck, as a couple, received the Lumen Christi Award for Service to the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi. She was a National Anthem Soloist at Carnival Events for Gulf Coast Carnival Association and Neptune Carnival Association, as well as ceremonies affirming the naturalization of United States Citizens. For over 20 years, she and Buck played Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus at the Nativity CYO Annual Christmas Party for the Harrison County Department of Human Services Foster Children. She participated in many Gulf Coast Opera Society productions and was co-lead in the Gulf Coast Opera Society’s production of Soir Angelica. June recorded a CD of her favorite spiritual songs that is well loved by her friends and family. June and Buck took many adventurous trips aboard including Portugal, Greece, Germany, Austria, Israel, Canada, Hungry, Mexico, Yucatan, Italy and the Caribbean. They also made pilgrimages to Fatima, Rome, the Vatican, and the Holy Land. She was preceded by her parents; her brothers and sisters, Edmay Aucoin, Herbert Daigle, Rose Blackwell, Max Daigle, Lula Daigle, and Robert Daigle; and her twin brother, Jason Daigle. June is survived by her husband of 59 years, Buck O’Gea; her children, Christina (Marvin) Newman, Kevin (Lee Ann) O’Gea, Sondra (John) Williams and Rhonda (Christopher) Ouille; grandchildren, Marvin Newman, Jr., Lauren (James) Land, Shellie (Daniel) Spicer, Bradley Williams, Stacy (Terry) Hoover, Kelly Chaney, Justin Ouille, and Michael Ouille; great-grandchildren, Landon Hoover, Nathan Hoover and Nicholas Land; sisters, Ann Greenburg and Ruby Vining; and numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren. Buck and the family wish to thank Aprils Place and the following staff members, Shonda, Yolanda, LaToya, Nickie, Edna, Shirley, Mildred, Zach, Betty, Connie, Arial, Frankie and Ms. April; also the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice and Pinnacle Hospice. The family also thanks Dr. Richard Smith who shared his mother’s personal experiences with Alzheimer’s disease, and supported our family throughout this process. Buck also wishes to thank the many friends that have been supportive and prayerful, especially his Tuesday Rosary Group that prayed us through this. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Nativity B.V.M. Cathedral, 870 Howard Avenue, Biloxi, MS 39530 or to the Cursillo Movement of South Mississippi, PO Box 7450, D’Iberville, MS 39540. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cathedral on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., where friends may visit 2 hours prior to the Mass.
