Karen McCarthy Barber

Karen McCarthy Barber, age 50, of Ocean Springs, MS., passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2010, in the loving company of family and friends. Karen worked in the medical field as an MRI and Cat Scan Specialist. Her hobbies were pottery making and glass work. She loved children and dogs and although she did not get her desire to have children of her own she was the most loving aunt the daughters of her siblings could hope to have. Her warmth and generosity will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Richard Barber of Biloxi, MS., her parents, Helen and John (Jack) McCarthy of Ocean Springs, MS., four sisters, Maureen Hanshew of Austin, TX., Patricia McCarthy, Elizabeth Smith and Mary Ann Joiner, and three brothers, John McCarthy, Kevin McCarthy and David Dale, all of Ocean Springs. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, from 12 Noon until 2 pm, with a 2 pm chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the SPCA.
