Mrs. Katherine Lavern Smith, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 10, 2010. Mrs. Smith was born on March 27, 1925 to Jesse and Effie Ann Rowell. She was a telephone operator and desk clerk for Edgewater Hotel. She was also the branch manager of the first bank branch of Citizens National Bank in Vancleave. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved day lilies, knitting, and fishing. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Vancleave. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty four years, John Paul Smith, her husband Connie Lambert who died in World War II; her parents, Jesse and Effie Ann Rowell; brothers Lewis Jackson ( Jack), Jesse Lee, Odell, and Tyson Rowell; sisters, Estelle Thompson, Wyzell Wells, Idell Jones, Earlene Tarver, and Christell Fremin. She is survived by her son, Donald Lambert of Covington, LA; three daughters, Linda Sattler of GrandBay, AL, Mary Ann (Paul) Oncale of Ocean Springs, and Paulla (Nick) Cacibauda of Vancleave, MS; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren, and one great- great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to the American Heart Association, Living Legacy Partnership, P. O. Box 409410, Atlanta, GA 30384-9410. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home of Ocean Springs is in charge of arrangements.
