A teacher and professor who educated many and touched most people she met, Kathy Moran Hendry, 61, of Wiggins, was called home Monday, April 25, 2016.
The oldest of five children, Kathy passed away in Jefferson, La., surrounded by her close family.
Teaching was Kathy's passion, and she often spoke of her love for her students. She taught teenagers for fifteen years at Forrest County Agricultural High School in Forrest County. Then, took a role as business administration teacher at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston. She worked at MGCCC for a decade before she retired.
She was born in Gulfport and raised in the Catahoula community in Hancock County.
Kathy was a dedicated Christian and loved the Lord. She was an active member at Crosspoint Community Church in Hattiesburg.
Kathy had a green thumb and loved gardening, and that could be seen at the greenspace outside of her Wiggins home and the Moran family farm house in Kiln. A loving mother and wife, Kathy always spoke her mind and encouraged others. She will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Barnett; and a brother, Joey Moran.
She is survived by her husband of forty years, Michael Hendry; a daughter, Amanda Hendry D’Angelo
(Matthew) and their son, Myles Ross D’Angelo; a son, Brandon Hendry (McKinsey), a sister, Dana Spiers; a brother, Jeff Moran; and her parents, Oswald “Sonny” Jr. and Louise Moran.
The funeral service will be Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport.
