Kay Jablonowski Appel, age 78, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2011. She was born on August 27, 1932 in New Orleans, LA where she resided for 60 years. She subsequently moved to Gulfport, MS where she called the Coast home since 1992.
She was the daughter of the late Edgar Orlando Jablonowski and the late Goldie Milner Jablonowski. Kay graduated from Ursuline Academy in New Orleans and attended Louisiana State University. Throughout her life she was an active church volunteer who really enjoyed Women’s and Children’s ministries. She also volunteered in the city she loved, giving historic walking tours of the French Quarter and Cabildo. Upon moving to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, she became an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Gulfport Women’s Club. She believed in family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Kay was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert Louis Appel. She is survived by her three sons; Steven M. Appel of Hot Springs, AR; Kurt T. Appel (Claudia) of Gulfport, MS; Eddie C. Appel (Julie) of Gulfport, MS; and her daughter, Anna Lisa Latino (Steven) of Mandeville, LA.
She has nine grandchildren: Meg, Olivia, and Blake Appel; Morgan, Melanie and Madeline Appel; Steven, Kay Lee, and Christian Latino. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Anne Maher of Baton Rouge, LA and her many nieces and nephews who she dearly loved.

Funeral service is 11:00 am Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Gulfport where friends may visit one hour before the service. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 5007 Lawson Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39507 or to the charity of their choice.
