Kenneth C. "Casey" Cahan passed away on September 22, 2011.
He was born on September 10 in Kankakee, Illinois. Casey joined the Merchant Marine at the age of 17 and served on troop ships at the end of World War II and the beginning of the Korean War. He was very proud of his maritime service. He was a Commander of the Missouri River Flotilla of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Omaha, Nebraska.
He worked in sales and sold electronic components to the industry in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. He was a licensed captain and had a ride boat on the Missouri River. He moved from Omaha, Nebraska to Ocean Springs in 1991 and was known throughout the area as the Captain of the little red tugboat, Lil Toot.
He was an active member of Christus Victor Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Corine; daughter, Kelli (Michael) Moriarty; three grandchildren, Shane, Shannon and Kenneth, of Victor, New York; two sisters, Evelyn Buono and Jeanette Remillard of Kankakee, Illinois.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Christus Victor Lutheran Church at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 25, 2011. Visitation will be at 1:30 pm until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 2755 Bienville Blvd., Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
