Kenneth Frederick Walker

Mr. Kenneth Frederick Walker, Sr., age 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, in Biloxi, MS. Known affectionately by family and friends as "KW" he never met a stranger. Many occasions were brightened with his smile and humorous story telling. His love for God, his mother, family and friends and Fort Bayou, Mississippi, were well-known as were his love of reading, music and western movies. His heroes included Gene Autry, John Wayne, John F. Kennedy, and Robert E. Lee. A graduate of Vancleave High School in 1952, he received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Kenneth was a lifelong member of Fort Bayou Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Air Force with pride in his tour of duty in Korea. He retired from the U.S. Civil Service with the Navy Department in Pascagoula. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph V. Walker, Sr. and Ernestine Noble Walker, a son, Robert Edward Lee Walker, and a brother, Ralph V. Walker, Jr. Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer (Aubrey) Hammons, a son, Kenny (Katie) Walker, his sisters, Joy Walker (Oliver) Jones, Sylvia (Art) Gottily and Vivian (Larry) Dailey, his brothers, Richard (Peggy) Walker and John Walker, his grandchildren, Jaime (Carl) Kozuma and Jared Hammons, his beloved Aunt Mae Ulmer and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation for the excellent care provided by the In-patient Hospice of the Biloxi VA. A time to honor this unique man will be held on Friday, December 26, 2008, from 5-8 PM, at the Fort Bayou Baptist Church in Vancleave. On Saturday, December 27, 2008, there will be an 11 AM church service where friends may visit from 10 AM - 11 AM. Graveside services will follow in the Antioch Cemetery. Papa, you were so much fun to be with and it was an honor to know you. You will be sorely missed. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
