Kenneth "Kenny & K.W." Cook, Sr.

Kenneth “Kenny & K.W.” Cook, Sr. age 66, of Biloxi passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018. He was born November 14, 1951. Kenny was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewitt and Mamie Cook; brother, Billy Dewitt Cook; and his longtime best friend, Lester Thompson. He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 35 years, Wendie Mitchell Cook; his sons, Kenneth “Ken” W. (Dina) Cook, Jr. and Shawn (Danielle) Cook; and his favorite daughter, Georgina “Gina” Cook Simar. He also leaves behind brothers, Talmadge (Carolyn) Cook, Jimmy Cook, Bryan Cook and Bobby Cook; sisters, Carrie Hopper-Rau, Mary Berhow, Cary Cuevas and Mary Woodard; and six grandchildren, Bailey DeHart, Ethan Cook, Chloe Simar, Ella Simar, Dawson Cook and Reeves Cook. Kenny had many nieces and nephews and friends that also loved him. He also left mourning him, his beloved dogs Mia and BooBoo. Kenny was the owner of KW Cooks and ABC Auto Salvage in Woolmarket and Cooks Gun Shop. He was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church in D’Iberville where he served on the board as Chairman of the administrative council. Kenny was raised around cars in his dad’s auto salvage yard and started working at the age of 13 after school, weekends, holidays and summers. He built a car before he was legal to even drive it, and this started his passion for cars. He loved meeting the guys at McElroy’s for breakfast and eating at Taranto’s for lunch. Mostly, he was a homebody. He loved just watching TV with his wife and dogs. He loved tinkering with his many cars and helping others build their hot rods. Kenny did everything to the limit and was very competitive, whether it was years back in his body building days when he owned Pro Gym, or out fishing on his boat. He owned the Mississippi State power weightlifting record for four years and won the MS State body building title in 1989. Kenny was a very unique treasure and will be missed by many. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 5-8pm at Heritage United Methodist Church with funeral service on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 11am. Friends may gather one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
