Ocean Springs

Kenny Pitalo, 77, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away Friday, November 22, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Pitalo was a lifelong resident of Biloxi and a Vietnam Veteran of the Naval Reserve. He graduated from Biloxi High in 1968, attended the University of Southern Mississippi and retired from Northrup Grumman in Pascagoula.

He was a role model for so many. Mr. Pitalo excelled in sports and was named most athletic in high school. He was an extremely intelligent, talented, creative and loving man who could do anything from designing and building his own house, painting beautiful works of art, building props for dance recitals, gardening and going on adventures with his grandkids. He loved to cook, fish, and explore different cultures through food and music.

His family was his entire world. He was a father figure to so many, a loving husband, an amazing father, and the BEST grandfather of four.

Mr. Pitalo was preceded in death by his parents, Steve J. Pitalo and Dorothy Zegura Pitalo; and his brother, Steve Jules Pitalo.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sherri Ellis Pitalo; daughters and son-in-law, Kelly and Jeremiah Newman and Stephanie Zeunges; grandchildren, Jeremiah Newman II, Ava Zeunges, Ellis Newman, and Christopher Zeunges; brother and sisters-in-law, Anthony and Susie Pitalo, Linda Pitalo, and Levon Carroll; and many very special nieces and nephews.

He will be truly missed by so many especially his family whom he was always there for with love and support. We love you Papa!

The family would like to thank Dr. Allison Wall and Dr. Jonathan Silberstein for caring for Kenny and giving him a fighting chance at life when all odds were against him.
