Kenneth “Ken” Reiling, age 81, a long-time resident of Ocean Springs, MS, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016, after complications from a stroke.
Mr. Reiling is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia “Pat” (Beebe) Reiling and five children: Steven Reiling and his wife, Elizabeth, Teresa (Reiling) Bieda, Barb (Reiling) Montilla and her husband, Ron, Lynda (Reiling) Dahl and her husband, Joey and Dan Reiling and his wife, Julie. He was also the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Joseph Reiling and his wife, Kim, Adam Reiling, Josh Dahl, Kim Bieda, Travis Bieda, Pierce Montilla, Philip Reiling, Darby Montilla, Jacob Reiling and Ben Reiling. He is also survived by sisters, Norma Sheldon, Elaine McCormick (Curtis) and Gloria Kagemann (Alan) and brothers, Roland Reiling (Verlee), Larry Reiling (Leah Rae) and Jim and Katherine Beebe as well as numerous nieces and nephews, whom he cared for deeply.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, George Reiling, mother, Viola Reiling, sisters, Fern Bauer, Phyllis Weiland and Karen Reiling and brothers, Virtus Reiling, Wayne Reiling and LaVerne Reiling.
He was born January 30, 1935 and was raised in Toronto, Iowa. In 1954, Ken joined the Air Force where he proudly served for 20 years. Following the military, he received his associate degree in Electronics and then worked for Ingalls Ship Building for many years until his retirement. Ken loved spending time with his wonderful wife, Patricia, going to movies, cruises, fishing, working in the yard and spending hours playing cards and games with his children and grandchildren. He never met a stranger and anyone who knew him, loved his smile and fun personality.
Visitation will be held from 5pm until 7pm on Sunday, December 11, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral home (911 Porter Ave, Ocean Springs, MS). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1pm on Monday, December 12 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church (502 Jackson Ave, Ocean Springs, MS), where friends may visit one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery (400 Veterans Ave, Biloxi, MS) with full military honors.
