Kevin O'Brien

Kevin O'Brien, 74, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023. 

Kevin was born in Newton, NJ on September 13, 1948 to Bridget and Charles O'Brien. He was the youngest of 6 children. He graduated from Pope John XXIII High School in 1966 and attended college for 2 years before joining the U.S Air Force. He worked in military logistics for 22 years, traveling around the world before retiring in December 1999 where he was stationed at Keesler Air Force base in Biloxi, MS. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for L3 Logistics working on Aegis destroyers until 2014. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, football, and anything relating to yard work. Kevin met his wife, Sheila in Charleston, ME, at Charleston Air Force Station in 1969. They married on March 14, 1970 surrounded by friends and family. In 1973, Kevin and Sheila had their first child, Tara. In 1979, they welcomed their second child, Shannon, into the world. 12 years later, Kevin and Sheila happily adopted their grandson, Lance, as their own. Kevin worked hard to make sure they were taken care of and felt loved every day. 

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sheila O'Brien; his children and their spouses, Tara Nichols, Kernie Nichols, Shannon O'Brien, Ryan Capps, Lance O'Brien Deleon-Dingli, Kim le; his grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Alyssa Smith, Austin Capps, Morgan Capps, Mackenzie Capps, & Kaelynn Deleon-Dingli; and his sister, Katie Mast; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his mom, Bridget O'Brien; his dad, Charles O'Brien; and his brother and sisters, Donnie O'Brien, Peggy Streeter, Patsy Baltjes, and Robert O'Brien.
