Kim Callahan Griggs

Kim Callahan Griggs passed away on February 27, 2008. She was born in Salt Lake City, UT in 1952 as an only child to Paul Haley and Barbara Callahan. Her father's employment brought them to the south where she would later attend college. Kim received her Bachelor of Science degree from LSU, and belonged to the Delta Gamma Sorority. Kim married Barry Lynn Griggs in 1974 and they have spent the last 34 years walking side by side, hand in hand. They were blessed with four children, who have all grown and blessed them with seven grandchildren. Kim was given the trial, in this mortal life, of intermittent health. In spite of this test she complained rarely, thanked her Heavenly Father unceasingly and served others often. She worked as a bookkeeper for Griggs Construction for 15 years. She voluntarily gave of her time to serve in various programs for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints such as Young Women’s Primary, Relief Society, Library and the Activities Committee. But, most importantly she was a very devoted Wife and Mother. I have heard her make mention before of a quote whose source I do not know, "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty, well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming, Wow what a ride!". Though she will always be beautiful in our eyes, she has had quite a ride. Kim fought a good and righteous fight to the very end. The Creator of Heaven and Earth will surely welcome her with open arms expressing, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant". Kim Griggs is survived by her husband, Barry Lynn Griggs and their children, Bradley Michael (wife - Kellie Griggs), Brian Craig, Amy Lynn (husband - Joseph Specker) and Laura Elizabeth (husband - Brandon Weaver) as well as seven grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008, with a 2:00 p.m. Service at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes. Burial to follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park. The pallbearers for the service will be Kim Griggs’s sons, Bradley Michael and Brian Craig, son-in-laws, Joseph Specker and Brandon Weaver, nephew, Stephen Griggs and close family friend, Michael Study. The honorary pallbearers will be Kim Griggs' grandsons, Brandon Kyle Griggs, Byron Scott Weaver, Jayson Eli Specker and Beau Alexander Griggs.
