Kristen Amelia Balius, beloved wife, mother and teacher passed away on December 7, 2024, at the age of 41. She was born on May 28, 1983, in Biloxi, where she remained a lifelong resident and brought joy, love and peace to everyone she met.
She was a loving mother to Gavin, Bella and Hudson, and a devoted wife to Don. Her love, humor, and unwavering strength was the foundation for her family. She was cherished by her friends, colleagues, and neighbors.
Kristen was a passionate educator and dedicated teacher at Biloxi Upper Elementary School, where she was adored by teachers and students. Her classroom was a place of inspiration, where countless students discovered their potential through her guidance and encouragement.
Kristen always wanted to host the family gatherings and to prepare her delicious holiday meals. She loved holiday decorations and crafts with her children. She could whip up travel plans for her family with ease and all were welcome to join. Kristen loved all the Holidays especially when wearing her creative outfits, shirts, earrings and many accessories was an option, but Mardi Gras held a special place in her heart. She attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church her entire life.
Kristen was preceded in death by her mother, Molly Pisarich Cox; and her sister-in-law, Belinda Balius Olsen.
She is survived by her husband, Donald G. Balius III; daughter, Bella D. Balius; sons, Hudson W. Balius and Gavin J. Bourgeois (Hope) of Atlanta, GA; father, Theodore A. Johnson Sr. (Cheryl); sister, Stefanie J. Walley (John) of Round Rock, TX; brother, Teddy A. Johnson Jr. (Ashley) of Mobile, AL; sister, Beth C. Stephens (Jon) of Charlotte, NC; father-in-law, Donald G. Balius Jr.; mother-in-law, Barbara Alexander; stepfather, Frank W. Cox; sister-in law, Donnette Heggins (Tony); and her many nieces and nephews.
The family is requesting that attire for the service to be Kristen inspired. We would love for all to wear their favorite bright and colorful clothing with big earrings. Please do not feel like you need to wear black. She would not want that.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 12:00 pm. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until Mass time. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.
