On December 25, 2015, our blessed Father in Heaven sent his angels to Saucier, MS to take our loving LJ home.
LJ Montgomery was born to Siobhan Shannon (Fatimah) Normand-Ricks and Derrick Montgomery on August 23, 1994 in Gulfport, MS. He graduated from Harrison Central High School in Gulfport and attended MS Gulf Coast Community College Perkinston Campus before joining the United States Air Force where he became an Airman First Class (A1C). He was baptized, made First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion here at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Pass Christian.
LJ enjoyed trains, cars, and drawing. He was always somewhere designing a new car or house for his future. He had dreams on becoming a train engineer and airplane pilot. There was never a dull moment when LJ was around. He was also extremely proud of his Choctaw Heritage and enjoyed attending Pow Wow. He was always smiling, laughing and joking. He enjoyed being with his family and friends.
LJ is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sandra A. Normand and his paternal grandfather, Sidney Montgomery.
He leaves to mourn his legacy his mother, Siobhan (Fatimah) Normand-Ricks of Grand Prairie,TX; his father, Derrick Montgomery, Gulfport,; step-father, Jay Ricks of Grand Prairie, step-mother, Tiffany Montgomery of Gulfport; maternal grandfather, Joe Normand of Pass Christian; paternal grandmother, Patricia Nichols of Gulfport; and paternal great-grandmother, Jessie Johnson of Gulfport; three brothers, Derrick Banks of Gulfport, Rashard Mack and Yussef Ricks, both of Grand Prairie; four sisters, Zora Ricks, Jacy Ricks, Aminiah Ricks and Sadiyah Ricks all of Grand Prairie; his step-brother, Austin Gray of Gulfport; step-sisters, Ashley Tarver and Destini Cook both of Gulfport; maternal aunts,Chantel (Nathanial Rich) Normand of Pass Christian and Tamiko (Tonie, Sr.) Bloomingberg of Houston, TX; uncle and godfather, Angelo Normand of Pass Christian; his godmother, Gwen Navarre of Slidell, LA; godbrother, Kelvin Martin of Gulfport; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Pass Christian where friends may visit beginning at 9:00 a.m. and the Rosary at 10:30 a.m. Interment follows at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi with military honors by the U.S. Air Force.
