Joshua "Lance" Landry, age 20, died on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, in Hattiesburg, Miss. Lance was born on August 20, 1986, in Gulfport. He was a junior at The University of Southern Mississippi, working toward degrees in political science and psychology.
Lance was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Biloxi residents, C.J. and Shirley Landry and his maternal grandparents, Dennis and Veda Watts of Livingston, La.
Lance is survived by his loving parents, Peg and Lane and his loving sisters, Brianna and Jessica, all of Long Beach. Survivors also include Godfather and Great Uncle Rodney Mattina of Biloxi, Godmother and Aunt Audrey Onellion of Holden, La., Aunts Carla Stanley and Peggy Broussard of Biloxi, and their spouses Tom Stanley and Barry Broussard, and five uncles, two aunts and their spouses, all from Louisiana, Montana, and California. Finally, he is survived by numerous relatives and friends who loved him.
Lance loved discussing movies with his sister Brianna, talking politics with his Dad, going out to dinner with his Mom, and long phone conversations with his sister Jessica.
Lance graduated from Long Beach High School in 2004. He loved working on restoring his 1986 Nissan 300Z, practicing Kung Fu, building computers, and playing computer games. He was a Mississippi State Games Champion fencer. He loved music, practicing guitar with his buddies late into the night. He also loved to fly and planned to become a fighter pilot.
Lance will be well remembered for his witty and sarcastic sense of humor and ability to raise the spirits of his family and friends. Lance will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church in Long Beach. Visitation begins at 5:30 p.m., and the service begins at 7.
