Mr. Larry R. Mayo, Sr., 70, of Biloxi, MS, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008, in Biloxi.
Mr. Mayo had been a resident of the Gulf Coast since 1971. He was a retired U. S. Navy Veteran and worked with the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller and taught ATC at Keesler Air Force Base, accumulating a total of 38 years of government service. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed nature and fishing. Mr. Mayo was an award winning photographer. He was a lapidary and a member of the Gulf Coast Gem & Mineral Society.
Mr. Mayo was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ken Mayo. He was a wonderful husband, father and loving grandfather who leaves behind his wife, Frances E. Mayo; sons, Gerald F. Mayo, Michael E. Mayo, and Larry R. Mayo, Jr.; sisters, Betty Nichols, Glenda Booker, and Jean Lovechio; brother, Danny Martin; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and an "adopted daughter", Sandra Lee Bolda.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 3, 2008, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi. There will be a time of rememberance at 7 p.m.
