Larry Lee Salter, age 72, of Vancleave, MS, died Saturday, July 20, 2013 at home with his family.
He joined the Navy in 1957. Larry served aboard the USS Radford until 1968 when he went to work as an electrician for Ingalls Shipbuilding until he retired in 2006. Then he went to work on Brim and Shellcracker. Larry was the fish whisperer. He loved fishing and hunting and talking about both. Larry also enjoyed teaching his kids and grandkids gun safety and to respect the woods and the water!
He was a loving and caring husband, father and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Larry is survived by his wife Merle N. Salter; seven children: sons – Timothy Salter (Lisa), Mark Salter (Wanda), Daniel Salter (Deborah), Joshua Salter (Sheila), daughters – Maridon L. Bradley (Ben), Pamela Dilling, and Christina Goeke; grandchildren, Steven Ray, Justin Strong, Katherine Bradley, Taylor Johnston, Kaley Salter, Hunter Salter, Jared Salter, Lilith Young, Larry Smith and Zackery Salter.
A memorial service will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Jim Ramsay Road on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. where friends may visit one hour prior to service time.
