Lemon W. "Polk" Creel, 73, of Biloxi died Sunday, July 10, 2005 in Gulfport.
Mr. Creel was a lifelong resident of Biloxi. He retired from the Biloxi Police Department as a Captain after 21 years of service. He was also a commercial fisherman. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of D'Iberville First Baptist Church.
Mr. Creel was preceded in death by his wife Anastasia Delahousey Creel; his mother and step-father, Effie D. and Hezzie B. Polk; his father, Fletcher Creel; two step-sisters, Catherine Polk and Eva Jewel Nobles; three step-brothers, Clyde Polk, Cassie Polk and Curtis Polk.
Mr. Creel is survived by two sons, Thomas Creel of St. Martin and David F. Creel and his wife Connie of Hurley; two grandchildren, David Anthony Creel and Candice V. Creel; two sisters, Louise Fayard and her husband Irvin of Latimer and Joanne Cochrane and her husband Larry of Vancleave; longtime companion Barbara Allen and her daughter Barbara Stanley both of Biloxi.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 14 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes. Services will be Friday, July 15 with a 1 pm Chapel Service. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery with full Police Honors.
