Mrs. Libby Belle Jordan, age 90, of Destin, FL., passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010, at Destin Healthcare and Rehab Center. She was a resident there for the past three years, moving to Destin, FL., from Ocean Springs, MS., where she had lived for 51 years.
Libby was born on October 25, 1919, in Oak Grove, LA., and was the second born and first girl of 13 children to Lillian and Robert Luther Corbin. She was especially known for showing love for others by sewing and baking. She also loved her best friend of 51 years, Imogene Woods of Ocean Springs, and Heidi, her daughters ten year old Maltese dog. She was a devout member of the First Baptist Church in Ocean Springs and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Ira Sandford Jordan, a grandson, Roland C. Lewis, Jr., sister, Vergie Faye, and four brothers, Willie, Willis, Clyde and Jerry Corbin.
Survivors include a daughter, Patsy "P.J." Jordan McDaniel, son-in-law, Archie McDaniel of Destin, FL., granddaughter, Rachael Michelle Lewis of Cincinnati, OH., two brothers, Luther Corbin and Jim Corbin of LA., five sisters, Lou Ellen Peacock, Lula Belle Mulligan, Nadine Plumbley, Hattie Mae Duprey, all of Louisiana, and Bobbie Jean Johansen of Brandon, MS.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 11, 2010, from 12 Noon until 1 PM, with a 1 PM chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to Covenant Hospice of Niceville, FL.
