Lillie Maudine Nelson “Maggie Dean”, age 65, of Vancleave, MS, passed away January 10, 2022. She was born May 23, 1956 to Nollis Kennedy and Joyce Owen (Dude) Groves Bingham. Maggie attended Vancleave High School and enjoyed volleyball, sewing, Bunco, quilting, cards, reading, crochet and the Casinos. She was a mother to many, a hard worker, baker, and a boo boo fixer. Maggie loved fishing and crabbing. In October, she always planned 1 week for camp meeting and rarely missed it. Maggie never met a stranger; she loved her family and would do what she could to show them. She was a loving Mom, Aunt, Sister, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Maggie worked at Ingalls in the Pipe Department and at The Crab Factory in Vancleave. She was an LPN for many years and loved taking care of the elderly in the Nursing home. In her last working days, she was at the Dollar General in Vancleave. Maggie was engaged to EJ Frye and previously married to Dennis Nelson.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, Nollis Kennedy and Joyce Owen Groves Binghman; great grandson, Anchor Adkins; brother-in-law’s, Dearld and Rickey Nelson.
She is survived by daughters, Sonya (Lynn Choate) Adkins and Mandy (Roland Forehand) Nelson; son Todd (Ronecce) Nelson; grandchildren, Patrick (Kate) Adkins, Justin (Emily) Havard, Clarissa (Mark) Jones, Madison (Gage) Skinner, Nathaniel, Baylee Laker, Tristian, Tyler and Carson, Madison (Jarrod) Choate, Raylynn Tatum, Jeremy (Kaitlyn) Freeman, Bryleigh Kylen, Chloe Miller; great grandchildren, Kason, Charter, Braley, Lennon and Bella; siblings, Ralph Kennedy, Margaret (Tim) Langly, Frank (Leeann) Kennedy, Tim Kennedy and Tina Hamm; sister-in-law’s, Linda Nelson, Jan Tootle King and Sandrine Nelson; brother-in -law, Eddie Nelson; many nieces and nephews; and pets Koala and Wawa.
The family sends a special thank you to the staff and Doctors at Ocean Springs Hospital. Visitation will be Saturday, January 15, at Latter Day Saints Church on Mt. Pleasant Road in Vancleave, from 10 am to 11 am, with a service to follow at 11 am. Interment will be at Jim Ramsey Cemetery #2, with food and fellowship following at Latter Day Saints Church. Bradford - O'Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Lillie Maudine Kennedy Nelson.
