Linda Jo Barnousky Barnes

1^st Lieutenant, Linda Jo Barnousky Barnes, 77, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on September 18, 2023.

She was born in Bristol, VA to Joseph and Glenna Barnousky. She served her country proudly during the Vietnam Era in the USAF Nurses Corp. When she was stationed at Sheppard AFB Texas, she met patient SSGT Larry Barnes who would later become her husband of forty-three years.

Linda continued working in the nursing field spanning a career of over forty years including the Biloxi VA, Quality Home Health, and Ocean Springs Nursing Home before retiring from Ocean Springs Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved husband, Larry Barnes (2014).

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Joseph A. (Linda) Barnes and Michael L. (Heather) Barnes; beloved grandchildren, Ella and Owen Barnes. She is also loved and will be greatly missed by her siblings, Lissa (Raleigh) Sadler, John Barnousky, Sharon (Mike) Reynolds, Robin (Tony) Goodard; her cousin, Anne White; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the USO or the charity of your choice.

A visitation will be held from 9am until 10:30am on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs. A full military honors graveside will follow at 11am at Biloxi National Cemetery.
