Mrs. Linda Boyd Black, age 69, of Biloxi, MS., passed away on Friday, April 8, 2011, in Biloxi, MS.
Linda was a longtime resident of the coast. She was involved with her husband, Richard Black, in the music ministry of Cedar Lake Christian Assembly. Richard and Linda met 50 years ago while attending South Eastern Bible College in Lakeland, Florida. For over 20 years she worked for the Bienville Orthopedic Group providing medical transcriptions for Dr. John Drake. Linda participated with the Cedar Lake Christian Assembly presentation of “I Love America” on the 4th of July every year on “The Town Green”. She was the unofficial "welcoming angel".
Her mother Hazel Smart Boyd, her father, Walter Boyd and a brother David preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Richard Black, their son Kevin Black and his wife, Laura, grandson Jared, sister, Eileen Ryan, brother, Walter "Rusty" Boyd and his wife Barb, and numerous nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews.
On Sunday, April 10, 2011, there will be a 6 PM Celebration of Life Memorial Service at Cedar Lake Christian Assembly, 11555 Cedar Lake Rd., North Biloxi, where friends may call from 4 PM until 6 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to the Linda Black Benefit Fund at any Bancorp South location or to the main office, P.O. Box 70, Biloxi, MS., 39533.
The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
