Linda Dold Robinson

Linda Dold Robinson, age 78, passed away on October 15, 2013 in Ocean Springs where she had resided for many years. Linda was born August 11, 1935 to Lunsford L. and Ruth Dold Robinson in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She spent her growing up years between New Jersey and Buena Vista, Virginia with her family. Linda had one sibling, her brother Charles L. Robinson, and his wife Venessa, by whom she is survived along with two nieces Michelle Robinson Shaw, Valessa L. Robinson and one great niece, Elleah Taylor Shaw and a few distant cousins. Linda was a loving sister, an active member of her community and enjoyed her professional years in nursing during which time she was able to “give back” to others. EDUCATION: 1958 - RN – The Presbyterian Hospital, City of New York School of Nursing, Columbia University, 1963 –B.S. Master of Science – Nursing – Boston University Many Honors*** PROFESSIONAL POSITIONS: included Assistant professor positions at the University of Virginia, Charlottsville School of Nursing; University of Nevada, University of California (San Francisco) and Harding College, Conway, Arkansas. From 1977-1982 – Associate Chief, Nursing Service for Geriatrics, Geriatrics Research, Education and Clinical Center, Veterans Administration Medical Center, Little Rock, Arkansas and she served this community from 1982 until retirement in 2000 as Clinical Nurse Specialist, Gerontology, Veterans Administration Medical Center, Biloxi, MS Throughout her professional years, Linda was an acting Geriatric consultant to schools of nursing, universities, colleges, Veterans Administration, Long-Term Care/Rehab facilities etc. She completed volumes of research, did grant writing and authored/co-authored much literature related to Anti-Aging/Geriatrics. PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS: American Association of University Professors •“GAP” Project Committee and Ad Hoc Peer Review Committees, Geriatric Area of Practice, San Francisco Nurses Association •State By –Laws Committee: Chairperson (1964-1968) Virginia Nurses Association •Gerontological Society of America, Editorial Board for Clinical Medicine, Journal of Gerontology •National League for Nursing – delegate from University of Virginia •Department of Elderly Affairs, Council on Aging Linda, in her later years in life, was active and held various offices in: Gerontological Society of America Geneology Society Jackson County NARFE - National Assoc. of Retired Federal Workers Windsor Park HOA (Home Owners Association) St. Vincent DePaul Clinic/Pharmacy, Biloxi – as a volunteer Ocean Springs Library (volunteer) Genealogy Department Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 with a memorial service at 1:00p.m at First Presbyterian Church Ocean Springs, located at 921 Ocean Ave, Ocean Springs, MS 39564 - Phone: 228-875-5326. Bradford O-Keefe in Ocean Springs assisted the family with at-need arrangements. Rev. Scott Castleman and his staff assisted the family with all else.
