Lindsey Carrie Varner, age 46, of Ocean Springs passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at her home.
Lindsey was born October 5, 1976 at Tyndall Air Force base in Florida. She was raised in an Air Force family that traveled the world. She lived in multiple countries, Italy and Tunisia. Her childhood would give her a lifelong love of international travel. She was a graduate of the University of California Riverside with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Service and the University of La Verne with a Master of Science in Business Organization of Management. She had a distinguished twenty-five-year career as a civil service contract specialist with the U.S. Navy. Lindsey worked in San Diego, California; Dahlgren, Virginia; Manama, Bahrain; and Pascagoula, Mississippi. She served with distinction receiving multiple commendations and awards for her leadership and service to the U.S. Naval mission, including the Global War on Terrorism Civilian Service Medal.
Outside of work, Lindsey was an artist and a lover of God's beautiful creations. She was a passionate gardener, painter and glass artist. Lindsey loved animals, a good laugh, and helping others. She most loved spending time with family and friends, especially her church community. Lindsey's faith in Christ came at a young age and it sustained her throughout her life until the very end.
Lindsey is preceded in death by her mother, Alice Evelyn Britt Varner.
Survivors include her father, Orville Varner of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; her brother, Curtis (Samantha) Varner of Oak Park, California; her sister, Sara (Kurt) Varner Weidemeyer of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; her niece, Alexis Varner; and her two nephews, Greyson Varner and Matthew Weidemeyer
Services will be held at the Frist Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Friends and family may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Indianola City Cemetery in Indianola, Mississippi.
